CME Program on Vata Vyadhi Chikitsa – 09-09-2025

Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre, Chennai, organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on “Vata Vyadhi Chikitsa with an Emphasis on Avabahuka and Gridhrasi” on 9th September 2025 at VRR Hall.

The expert talk was delivered by Dr. R. Soumya, Senior Physician, Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, who shared valuable insights on Ayurvedic approaches and clinical practices in the management of Vata Vyadhi, focusing on Avabahuka and Gridhrasi.

The session provided in-depth knowledge for students and faculty, enhancing their clinical understanding and practical approach towards managing neurological and musculoskeletal disorders through Ayurveda.

National Nutrition Week Celebration On 02-09-2025

On 2nd September 2025, Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College and Research Centre (SSAMC) celebrated National Nutrition Week by organizing an outreach program at Poonthandalam Primary School.

As part of the initiative, nutritional kits were distributed to the children, and a health camp was conducted to assess their basic health parameters. Along with this, faculty and students of SSAMC conducted an interactive awareness session on the importance of nutrition in daily life.

During the session, school students were educated on:

  • The role of a balanced diet in growth and development.
  • The importance of locally available foods like vegetables, fruits, and millets.
  • Avoiding junk foods and sugary snacks for better health.
  • Practicing healthy eating habits from a young age.

The program emphasized that nutrition is the foundation of good health, and small daily choices can prevent lifestyle disorders in the future. Children actively participated, asked questions, and engaged in fun learning activities, making the session lively and impactful.
This initiative not only promoted awareness on healthy living but also reflected SSAMC’s commitment to community health and education.

Intra-Institutional Business Plan Competition

Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre, Institutional Innovation Council (IIC), organized the Intra-Institutional Business Plan Competition on 25th August 2025 at the Sairam Incubation Centre as part of its 3rd Quarter IIC Event 2024-25. The competition aimed to nurture innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students, with business ideas evaluated on innovation, feasibility, scalability, and societal impact. The jury panel included Dr. S.V. Juno Bella Gracia (Sri Sairam Engineering College), Mr. Muthuvel Arumugam (Sri Sairam Techno Incubator Foundation), and Dr. J. Govardhan Sahani (Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre). , provided a valuable platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial skills in alignment with MoE’s Innovation Cell and IIC objectives.

Institutional Innovation Council – 4th Quarter Meeting

Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College and Research Centre organized the 4th Quarter Meeting of the Institutional Innovation Council on 25th August 2025.

The meeting provided a platform for faculty and students to discuss innovative ideas, collaborative projects, and strategies to promote research and entrepreneurship within the institution. It highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in academic and research activities.

Health Awareness Session for Freshers on 01-09-2025

On 1st September 2025, Dr. Suraj delivered the third session on Health Awareness for the freshers of Sri Sairam Engineering College as part of their Induction Program held at Sigma Hall.

The session emphasized the significance of adopting healthy habits, stress management, and preventive health practices for students entering their academic journey. With engaging discussions and practical insights, Dr. Suraj guided the participants towards maintaining both physical and mental well-being.

Clinical Posting of Swasthavritta Batch at PHC Somangalam

The Swasthavritta batch of our college successfully completed their clinical postings at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Somangalam, on 22nd and 29th August 2025.

During the posting, students were exposed to the functioning of the primary healthcare system, community health management, and preventive healthcare activities. They actively observed patient consultations, health education sessions, and the role of healthcare professionals in addressing public health challenges. The program enabled students to understand the importance of Swasthavritta in real-time community settings and enhanced their practical knowledge of public health practices.

This experience provided an opportunity to bridge classroom learning with field exposure, encouraging students to develop a deeper sense of responsibility towards community health and wellness.

Health Awareness Session for Freshers

On 28th August 2025, Dr. Suraj delivered the second session on Health Awareness as part of the Induction Program for freshers at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Sigma Hall.

The session focused on the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices, preventive healthcare measures, and building awareness about common health concerns faced by students. Dr. Suraj engaged the participants with practical insights and interactive discussions, encouraging them to integrate wellness into their daily routine.

This initiative aimed to sensitize the freshers towards maintaining physical and mental well-being, ensuring a holistic approach to student life on campus.

International Academic Visit

On 28th August 2025, our college had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Shamini Krishnan from Hillriche Institute, Malaysia, along with seven medical students. The visit fostered academic exchange and provided an opportunity for our students and faculty to interact, share knowledge, and explore collaborative learning avenues.

This interaction marks a step towards strengthening global academic connections and enhancing the learning experience on our campus.

First Aid Training Program at Sairam School, Thiruthuraipoondi

On 11th August 2025, a First Aid Training Program was conducted at Sairam School, Thiruthuraipoondi, in association with the Bharat Scouts and Guides – Sairam District.

The session focused on educating students about essential life-saving techniques, empowering them with practical knowledge to respond effectively during emergencies.

This collaborative initiative reflects the commitment of Sri Sairam Ayurvedic Medical College & Research Centre towards spreading healthcare awareness and preparedness among young learners, ensuring they are equipped with the right skills to safeguard themselves and others in critical situations.
