A Special Medical Camp was successfully conducted at Kalivanthapattu Village on 14th February 2026 by Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College (SSAMC) in collaboration with the Rotary Club and ACS Medical College and Hospital.
The camp was organized through the Mobile Mammography Bus initiative with the objective of providing accessible healthcare services to the rural population. The program primarily focused on early screening, preventive healthcare, and creating awareness regarding women’s health and general well-being.
A dedicated team of doctors, interns, and faculty members from Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College actively participated in the camp, offering medical consultations, health screenings, and patient education. The villagers benefitted greatly from this outreach initiative and appreciated the efforts taken to bring quality healthcare services directly to their community.
This medical camp reflects the institution’s strong commitment towards community service, preventive healthcare, and holistic medical practice.
Eye Check-Up Camp Conducted at Malaipattu Village
Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College (SSAMC), in association with Chettinad Hospital, successfully conducted a Free Eye Check-Up Camp at Malaipattu Village on 20th February 2026.
The camp aimed to promote awareness about eye health and provide accessible screening services to the rural community. A team of experienced ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals conducted comprehensive eye examinations, including vision testing and preliminary screening for common ocular conditions.
Villagers benefited from expert consultation, guidance on preventive eye care, and referrals for advanced management wherever required. The initiative witnessed active participation from the local community and reflects SSAMC’s continued commitment towards rural healthcare outreach and community service.
Medical Camp on General Health Check-up & Mammogram Screening – 18th February 2026 at 10:00 AM
Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College, in association with Queen Mary’s College, Chennai, organized a Medical Camp on 18th February 2026 at 10:00 AM.
The camp focused on providing General Health Check-up and Mammogram Screening services for the benefit of the participants. The initiative aimed to promote preventive healthcare awareness and facilitate early detection of potential health issues among women. A team of medical professionals from Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College actively participated in the camp and delivered essential healthcare services and consultations to the attendees. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation and served as a valuable platform in promoting community health and well-being.
World Cancer Day 2026 – Student Competitions
Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre observed World Cancer Day 2026 on 4th February 2026 (Wednesday) by organizing a series of student competitions under the global theme “United by Unique – Personalized, Patient-Centered Cancer Care.”
The event aimed to create awareness about the importance of individualized cancer care and to encourage students to express their understanding of cancer prevention, early detection, and holistic management approaches through academic and creative platforms.
As part of the observance, the following competitions were conducted for students:
- Essay Writing Competition
- Speech Competition
- Poster Presentation
The competitions provided an engaging platform for students to articulate their ideas, enhance awareness, and emphasize the need for tailoring cancer care to the unique needs of every individual.
The program was held at SSR Hall and commenced at 11:00 AM. The event witnessed active participation from students, reflecting their enthusiasm and commitment towards cancer awareness and patient-centered healthcare.
The institution continues to uphold its responsibility in promoting health education, awareness, and social responsibility through such meaningful academic initiatives.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Workshop for Silaii Staff
The staff of Silaii successfully participated in a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Workshop conducted on 24th January 2026. The workshop was organized by Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College as part of its continuous commitment to health education and emergency preparedness. The training session was conducted by Mr. Karal Marks, resource person from Alert NGO, who provided comprehensive hands-on training on essential life-saving techniques, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and immediate emergency response measures. The workshop enabled the participants to gain practical knowledge and confidence in handling medical emergencies effectively. The initiative was well received and contributed significantly to enhancing the preparedness and safety awareness among the Silaii staff.
Hrudhayam’s Yantra Mahotsav – 23/01/2026
The Department of Rasa Shastra evam Bhaishajya Kalpana successfully conducted “Hrudhayam’s Yantra Mahotsav” on Friday, 23rd January 2026, at the Yoga Hall, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The event was formally inaugurated by our respected Principal, Dr. P. A. Sudhir Menon, whose encouraging words highlighted the importance of traditional Ayurvedic instruments (Yantras) in pharmaceutical preparation and clinical practice. The program aimed to enhance students’ practical understanding of classical Yantras described in Ayurveda and their relevance in modern-day Bhaishajya Kalpana.
Students actively participated in the exhibition and demonstration of various Yantras, gaining hands-on exposure and conceptual clarity. The event fostered academic enthusiasm, experiential learning, and a deeper appreciation of Ayurvedic pharmaceutical principles.
Hrudhayam’s Yantra Mahotsav concluded successfully with positive feedback from faculty and students, marking it as a meaningful academic initiative by the department.
CME on Clinical Insights and Applicability of Kriyakalpa in Shalakya Tantra
The Department of Shalakya Tantra, Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre, successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled “Clinical Insights and Applicability of Kriyakalpa in Shalakya Tantra” on Monday, 5th January 2026, at 10:00 AM in VRR Hall.
The CME was delivered by Dr. K. Sivabalaji, Professor, Department of Shalakya Tantra, Amrita School of Ayurveda, Kollam, Kerala. The session provided valuable clinical insights into the practical application of Kriyakalpa procedures in the management of various Shalakya disorders. Emphasis was laid on classical principles, procedural techniques, indications, and their relevance in contemporary clinical practice.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, postgraduate scholars, and undergraduate students. The interactive discussion enhanced the academic understanding and clinical orientation of the participants, making the CME a meaningful learning experience.
Meendum Manjappai Campaign
The Meendum Manjappai campaign was successfully conducted on 29/12/2025 and 30/12/2025 in Poonthandalam, Nadaverapattu, and Somangalam villages, which are the adopted villages of our institution.
The campaign aimed to create awareness among the public about the harmful effects of plastic usage and to promote the adoption of eco-friendly cloth bags as a sustainable alternative. The initiative emphasized environmental conservation and responsible community practices.
The programme received positive participation from the local residents and contributed meaningfully towards fostering environmental awareness and sustainable living within the adopted villages.
Programme on Harnessing EDII Initiatives for Research, Innovation and Start-up Development
The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (RIED) Cell of Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre successfully organized a programme titled “Harnessing EDII Initiatives for Research, Innovation, Funding Opportunities and Start-up Development in Life Science Research and Projects” on 08th December 2025, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, at SSR Hall.
The programme featured Mr. Kulunthan K, District Program Manager, Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII), MSME, Government of Tamil Nadu, as the Resource Person. The session focused on creating awareness about research-driven innovation, available funding opportunities, government initiatives, and start-up development in the life sciences sector.
Faculty members, researchers, and students actively participated in the programme and gained valuable insights into transforming research ideas into viable innovations and entrepreneurial ventures. The event served as an effective platform to promote innovation culture, research orientation, and entrepreneurship among the academic community.
Awareness Workshop on Entrepreneurship & Innovation as Career Opportunities
The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre successfully organized the 1st Quarter IIC Event for the academic year 2025–2026, an Awareness Workshop on “Entrepreneurship & Innovation as Career Opportunities”, on 22nd December 2025, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, at VRR Hall.
The workshop featured Dr. Bhuvaneswari Srinivasan, Ph.D., Independent Scientist, Entrepreneur, Research Mentor, Founder and Scientific Director, Bunova LabDesk (R&D & Translational Research Consultancy), as the Resource Person. The session emphasized the scope of entrepreneurship and innovation in the life sciences, highlighting career opportunities, research translation, and start-up ecosystems.
Faculty members, researchers, and students actively participated in the programme and benefited from the expert insights shared. The workshop played a significant role in fostering an innovation-driven mindset and encouraging entrepreneurial thinking among the academic community, aligning with the objectives of the Institution Innovation Council.
