Ayurveda Day was initiated in 2016 by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The first Ayurveda Day was observed on 28th October 2016 (Dhanteras), marking the birth anniversary of Lord Dhanvantari, the divine physician.
From 2025 onwards
Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on 23rd September, the Autumnal Equinox. This shift symbolizes the perfect balance in nature—equal day and night—reflecting Ayurveda’s principle of harmony between body, mind, spirit, and the environment.

The event featured a distinguished talk by Dr. Rekha Thiruvengadam, emphasizing the critical role of research in healthcare and its transformative impact on medical advancements
The Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell at Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College and Research Centre play a pivotal role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within the institution.
