Awareness Programme on Pharmacovigilance of ASU & H Drugs in Association with CCRUM

Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre, in association with the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), organised an awareness programme on “Pharmacovigilance of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani (ASU) and Homoeopathy (H) Drugs” on 25 September 2026.

The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of pharmacovigilance in ensuring the safety and appropriate use of traditional medicines. It highlighted the significance of identifying, documenting, and reporting suspected adverse drug reactions associated with Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy medicines.

The session emphasised the role of healthcare professionals, faculty members, and students in promoting drug safety through systematic monitoring and timely reporting of adverse events. Participants were sensitised to the importance of recognising potential adverse effects, possible drug interactions, and medication-related safety concerns to support responsible healthcare practices.

The programme also highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and organisations such as CCRUM in strengthening pharmacovigilance awareness and promoting the safe use of traditional systems of medicine.

Through this initiative, Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College & Research Centre, in association with CCRUM, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting drug safety awareness, responsible prescribing practices, and patient-centred healthcare.
