Ayurveda Day is a global initiative to promote holistic health and environmental harmony through Ayurveda.
Did you know?
Ayurveda Day was initiated in 2016 by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The first Ayurveda Day was observed on 28th October 2016 (Dhanteras), marking the birth anniversary of Lord Dhanvantari, the divine physician.
From 2025 onwards
Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on 23rd September, the Autumnal Equinox. This shift symbolizes the perfect balance in nature—equal day and night—reflecting Ayurveda’s principle of harmony between body, mind, spirit, and the environment.
Theme 2025: Ayurveda for People and Planet
This year’s theme highlights how Ayurveda is not just for individual wellness but also for sustainable living and planetary health.
